Back in the 50s and early 60s we never paid much attention to documenting the band's activities. After decades of not performing, you would think that we would do a better job now. Well...we've made only a mild improvement.

Union High School Class of '60 Reunion
September 24, 2005 - The photos for the Class of '60 Reunion were a little scary! This is the best of the lot. It almost shows the entire band, but we're missing our soundman.

No photos! However, Marc Stewart provided 4 gift certificates for dining at the Kopper Top. So, to add to your enjoyment we had drawings during the band's breaks.

Festival of the Arts 2006
June 3, 2006 - Festival of the Arts - The above photo was, of course, not taken during the Festival of the Arts. John Sinkevics of the Grand Rapids Press wrote a wonderful article about the band and choose us as one of his Festival Picks. Katy Batdorff took this Press photo.
Some of you may know that The Eschelons were upstaged by a storm, so our first ever Festival appearance didn't happen in 2006.
Maybe another time. Read our story.

Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park
We enjoyed performing for the volunteers and staff at the 2006 Volunteer/Staff Potluck.
July 12, 2006 - You can see just how hard John works to set up our sound system.
July 12, 2006 - Where did all of this stuff come from! It was never like that back in the 50s.

Summer Dance 2006
July 29, 2006 - Summer Dance 2006
One word. Hot! Hot! Hot! You may have already seen photos of the band at the Guest House so no photos to present.
However, the band did do its second public performance of an a cappella version of "Remember Then" and did have some more drawings. For 4 people, we gave them $5.00, and for 1 lucky person, we gave her not only $5.00 but also the first ever Eschelons clock (clock photo and certificate below). In fact, at the time of the giveaway, it was the only Eschelons clock.

Coopersville 2006 Summer Fest
15th Annual Del Shannon Car Show
What a day! Beautiful weather. Great cars. Gracious people.
Main St Park was our home for the day.

Main St Park's peaceful setting before Summer Fest (band's view)
We packed up around 8:30 AM! Got to Coopersville around 9:30 AM. You can see by the shadows that the sun was still in its early morning position - setup - busy, busy, busy
Setup - taking shape
Setup - supporting the band
Setup - old and new autos - somewhere between 600 and 700 cars on display during the 15th Annual Del Shannon Car Show
Performance - Jack, Ron, Dick, Jim & Vic keep cool during the first set, but Warren gets the full force of the sun and Al gets a sun/shade mix
Performance - Jim provides the shade for John - John focuses on making us sound good - hard to believe that when The Eschelons played in the 50s and 60s they most often had a couple microphones and none of the instruments were put through the sound system - how'd we ever get by?
Performance - This may have been the second set (of three) - Dick, Jack and Ron keep cool for a few more moments - by the third set we were all in full sun - plenty warm - many people stayed with us, enjoying the old songs and expressing their enjoyment through applause and words - many sang along with the band
Our thanks to all who listened - you made us feel welcomed in Coopersville - Our thanks also to the Coopersville Area Chamber of Commerce for giving us this chance to take part in 2006 Summer Fest.

Pal's Diner
2nd Annual 28th Street Metro-Cruise
This is how Pal's Diner looks on a sunny day. On August 26, it was mostly overcast.
We arrived at Pal's around 12:30. The 1954 buss was already there with its owner spinning 45 R.P.M. records from the 50's and 60's
Setup is under way under an overcast sky
John's view - setup almost complete - when we get the gear all spread out it looks like a lot less
Warren is under a blue mood - Al is dressed to match our partial protection from the rain
Performing with hats - think we should all wear them, even when we're inside?
Dick volunteered to take a chance on getting caught in the rain - we used the tents to cover the electrical gear - only had 20 to 40 drops hit us, so the weather cooperated - 2 out of 3 ain't bad (Festival of the Arts canceled, but Del Shannon Car Show and Metro Cruise almost perfect)
One band member didn't follow the dress code for the day - wouldn't you know, it was the guitar player - at least he had an Eschelons tee shirt
John tweaks the sound to get the best out of the band
One last look at Pal's and the classic 1955 Chevy - the old diner, the old autos, and old music and some slightly aged gentlemen made for a nostalgic afternoon.
Some of the band members had dinner at Pal's - cool place to eat with great food and great service (Pal's Diner Location).

Holiday Dance to Benefit
Paws With A Cause
 |
|
At the Holiday Dance, we celebrated the holidays, the music of the 50's and 60's, and an organization dedicated to encouraging independence for people with disabilities through Assistance Dogs--Paws With A Cause.
|
|
Our thanks to the people that attended the Holiday Dance. Because of you, we raised over $880.00 dollars for Paws With A Cause.
Thank you Deb and Becky (from PAWS). Without you, the event wouldn't have been as successful as it was.
And...to Kricket and Dart, whose attendance was much appreciated. They are demo dogs, and they provided us with a demonstration of their talents during the band's first break. During our second set, Dart sold kisses. Thank you Kricket and Dart. You are special and you make our world better.

Knights of Columbus New Years Party |
|
|
A few folks joined us at the Knights of Columbus Hall and danced to their favorite 50's and 60's rock 'n' roll.
Good food, good friends and gracious hosts. Thank you Jerry.
It was our first 4 hour gig since the band's reunion. We're happy to report, we made it!
